On December 17, 2019, France boss Didier Deschamps urged Olivier Giroud to quit Chelsea in January, citing a need for regular playing time to secure his place at Euro 2020.
Giroud, 33, has made only one Premier League start this season and is currently out with an ankle injury, with Tammy Abraham emerging as the Blues' first-choice No.9.
Despite scoring four goals for the World Cup winners this season, Giroud's situation at Chelsea has not changed for two months, according to Deschamps.
“His situation at Chelsea has not changed for two months,” said the France head coach.
“It would be better for him, obviously, to go to a club where he will have more playing time,” Deschamps added.
Deschamps also stated that it is up to Giroud to decide the solution, saying, “It is up to him to decide the solution.”
