On December 17, 2019, rapper Kennedy Ombima, popularly known as King Kaka, found himself at the DCI office after a mysterious phone call.
Speaking to the media, King Kaka revealed that his manager Dennis Njenga received a call at 10:41am, informing him that they had been summoned.
‘Either you come to us or we come for you…we know where you are,’ the caller allegedly said.
King Kaka was accompanied by his fiancée Nana Owiti, Starehe Member of Parliament Charles Njagua, Thirdway Alliance leader Ekuru Aukot, Boniface Mwangi, and two lawyers.
However, upon arrival, they were told that the number was not working and didn’t belong to the DCI.
King Kaka expressed his concerns for his safety and security, stating, ‘I have a family, I have kids, I need security. I don’t feel safe.’
He also announced that he would publicize the caller ID of the person who called his manager.
The DCI refuted reports that they had summoned King Kaka, stating, ‘We wish to condemn strongly false information being peddled through social media to the effect that one Kennedy Ombima @RabbitTheKing has been summoned. Nobody from @DCI_Kenya has summoned him.’
King Kaka also addressed the demand letter from Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, stating that his lawyers had not received any such document.
The rapper’s appearance at the DCI office comes after the release of his controversial song ‘Wajinga Nyinyi’, which criticizes social ills in the country, particularly corruption.
