Man Charged with Obtaining Goods by False Pretences

On Tuesday, Kennedy Otieno Okonji appeared before Makadara Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate Angelo Kithinji, charged with obtaining goods by false pretences.

According to the allegations, Okonji had taken his friends to VIP Lounge in Mathare on Sunday and ordered food and beer worth Sh6,020, but failed to pay the bill.

Okonji is accused of falsely pretending he was in a position to pay later, with the intention of defrauding Juliet Akinyi, the person who served him.

He denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh20,000. His case will be mentioned on December 27, 2019.
