On December 17, 2019, the DCI issued a statement dismissing claims that they had summoned King Kaka, whose real name is Kennedy Ombima, over his song 'Wajinga Nyinyi'.
According to the DCI, the claims were false and had been spread through social media.
King Kaka had earlier appeared at the DCI office on Kiambu Road with an entourage of lawyers, family, and friends, sparking speculation that he had been summoned.
However, the DCI clarified that no one from their office had summoned King Kaka, and that anyone seeking publicity should desist from using their name.
King Kaka had spent about 30 minutes inside the DCI office before addressing the media with his wife, Starehe MP Charles Njagua, Thirdway Alliance leader Ekuru Aukot, activist Boniface Mwangi, and two lawyers.
He revealed that his manager had received a phone call at 10:41am, instructing them to appear at the DCI office at 12pm.
The events came on the backdrop of a demand letter to King Kaka from Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, who had accused him of releasing the song to increase his popularity.
However, Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi had criticized Waiguru's suit, saying that no one was defamed in the song.
