On the heels of a successful Black Friday campaign, e-commerce giant Jumia has revealed its top-selling categories for the month-long shopping event. According to statistics released by the company, groceries emerged as the best-selling item on Jumia during the 2019 Black Friday season.
Coming in second was sports and fitness apparel, followed closely by fashion and accessories. TVs and sound electronics took the fourth spot, while home appliances rounded out the top five.
Notably, over 30% of orders made during Black Friday across all countries were paid through JumiaPay, highlighting a growing preference for digital payment solutions.
During the campaign period, which ran from November 8 to November 29, Jumia delivered three million packages, with approximately 33% of them being delivered in less than 24 hours.
The campaign mobilized over 5,000 full-time staff and provided employment for more than 50,000 people indirectly, through vendors and logistics partners. Additionally, there were about 42,000 active consultants participating in the campaign, a significant increase from the 20,000 who participated in the same period in 2018.
