Engineer Geoffrey Sang, a former acting CEO of the National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority, is facing allegations of being involved in dubious tender deals.
According to sources, Sang and a cartel at the parastatal, which falls under the Ministry of Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation, have initiated three suspicious projects.
The projects, which are being used as a means to mint millions of shillings, are allegedly being awarded to well-known companies that have deals with the agency, with kickbacks being given to the officials involved.
Sang is reportedly lobbying to be appointed the CEO of the authority, citing his close relationship with Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui.
It has also emerged that Sang was instrumental in fixing embattled CEO Engineer Sammy Mburu, who was implicated in misappropriation of funds while at the Lake Victoria South Water Services Board.
When the DCI ordered Mburu's arrest, he went into hiding but still managed to call the shots at the parastatal.
Sources claim that while Chelugui is pushing for Sang to be appointed CEO, his Principal Secretary, Joseph Irungu, is protecting Mburu, who is his relative.
Sang has been overheard claiming that Irungu is the stumbling block to his appointment as CEO.
