On December 17th, 2019, musician and rapper Kennedy Ombima, popularly known as King Kaka, recorded a police statement at Muthaiga Police Station after the DCI warned him against spreading false claims about receiving a summons.
According to activist Boniface Mwangi, they made the police complaint on the advice of the DCI. The matter was recorded under OB number 14 of December 17th, 2019.
"The @DCI_Kenya instructed @RabbitTheKing to report the person who summoned him at Muthaiga Police Station. He has reported and @NPSOfficial_KE and @PoliceKE have promised to investigate whoever called and summoned him. He has been issued with Occurrence Book (OB) number 42/17/12/19," Mwangi said.
King Kaka had claimed to have received a summons ordering him to report to the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road. However, the DCI shortly after dismissed his tweet, accusing him of spreading false claims for purposes of attracting publicity.
"We wish to condemn strongly false information being peddled through social media to the effect that one Kennedy Ombima @RabbitTheKing has been summoned. Nobody from @DCI_Kenya has summoned him," the DCI stated before turning away the musician at their Kiambu Road offices.
"Anybody wishing for publicity should be warned to desist from using the @DCI_Kenya as a platform in seeking media attention," the DCI added.
