December 17, 2019 - Marsabit County is struggling to provide adequate healthcare to its residents due to a severe shortage of drugs and medical supplies.

The county government has blamed the National Treasury for the delays in releasing funds, which has left local health facilities in a precarious situation.

Deputy Governor Solomon Gubo expressed regret over the crisis, stating that it has exposed residents to pain and inconvenience.

He also faulted the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) for halting the supply of pharmaceuticals and non-pharmaceuticals, despite efforts by the county to clear the outstanding debt of 22 million shillings.

The outstanding debt was incurred during the last financial year, and the county is now struggling to meet its healthcare needs.
