Kenyan rapper King Kaka, known for his spoken word piece Wajinga Nyinyi, has rejected an invite for an interview by Citizen TV news anchor Jeff Koinange, published on December 17, 2019.
Jeff Koinange hosts a show at Citizen TV that sees him interview top guests on matters politics or trending issues across the country.
King Kaka released a song dubbed Wajinga Nyinyi that spells out the ills of politicians and blames the Kenyan citizens of always voting them back to office.
The song sparked a national debate and has been trending ever since it was uploaded on YouTube, with prominent media personalities seeking out the rapper for interviews.
However, the rapper has since landed in hot soup after Kirinyanga County Governor Anne Waiguru, whom he names in his song for being in office despite her integrity being questionable, threatened to sue him for defamation.
Waiguru asked him to pull down the video and apologize for maligning her name by associating her to a case that she had been acquitted of.
She was accused of playing a part in the fleecing of over 791 million from the NYS, a project within her then ministry, alongside an hairdresser Josephine Kabura who is still battling court cases over the same scandal.
King Kaka claims was also summoned by the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Activist Boniface Mwangi and Thirdway Alliance Party Leader Ekuru Aukot were among the people who accompanied the singer to the DCI offices where he had been summoned for questioning.
