Kenyan rapper King Kaka has made headlines with his spoken word piece, Wajinga Nyinyi, which sparked a national debate and has been trending since its release on YouTube.
Released in December 2019, the song spells out the ills of politicians and blames Kenyan citizens for voting them back into office.
King Kaka's message resonated with many, and he has since landed in hot water after Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru threatened to sue him for defamation.
Waiguru, who was accused of playing a part in the fleecing of over KES 791 million from the National Youth Service (NYS), asked King Kaka to pull down the video and apologize for maligning her name.
However, King Kaka rejected an interview invite from Citizen TV's Jeff Koinange, citing that his message is already out there and Kenyans are awakening to the hard truths.
"My message is already out there and Kenyans are awakening to the hard truths, I did not release this song for cheap fame," King Kaka allegedly responded to Koinange.
King Kaka has since been summoned by the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and has received support from prominent lawyers who are offering him free legal services if he is sued by Waiguru or any other person.
