December 17, 2019, marked a significant day for musician Kennedy Ombima, alias King Kaka, as he faced a potential defamation suit by Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru. The award-winning Kenyan rapper had released a sensational song, Wajinga Nyinyi (you are fools), which painted Waiguru as among the corrupt leaders in the country, referring to the National Youth Service scandal when she was adversely mentioned.
However, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) had cleared Waiguru in the infamous corruption scandal. Undeterred, Waiguru slapped King Kaka with a list of demands, including issuing an apology and pulling down the video on all his social media platforms. Failure to comply, she threatened to file a defamation suit against the Wajinga Nyinyi hitmaker.
Enter Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi, who has reaffirmed his commitment to defend King Kaka against Waiguru's potential defamation suit. In a tweet, Ahmednasir stated, "I said and I repeat..I will give legal representation to @RabbitTheKing against ANYONE who sues him for the lyric #Wajinganyiyi.I'm of the considered view that no one amongst the ruling elites or the masses was defamed. UGLY, CRASS and LEWD commentaries on soceity are PRIVILEGED", emphasizing that King Kaka's song was highlighting the truth on Kenya's tattered social fabric.
This is not the first time Ahmednasir has offered to defend King Kaka. Hours after the song went viral, King Kaka took to Twitter seeking protection from unnamed people who felt offended by his poetic release. Ahmednasir responded, expressing his availability and willingness to represent the artiste in court.
