On December 17, 2019, Kenyan rapper Kennedy Ombima, popularly known as King Kaka, found himself at the center of a fresh storm after being summoned by the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
King Kaka took to Twitter to notify his fans and followers of the latest twist in the 'Wajinga Nyinyi' controversy, tweeting, 'I have just been summoned by The CID.'
Activist Boniface Mwangi revealed that King Kaka had informed him that he was due to appear at the DCI on Monday at noon.
The 'Wajinga Nyinyi' song, released recently, has been trending on social media due to its hard-hitting message, which takes a swipe at Kenya's tattered social fabric, corruption at all levels, and controversial pastors, politicians, and other personalities involved in corruption.
Since Saturday, King Kaka has repeatedly expressed concerns about his life being in danger from unnamed individuals.
Additionally, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has threatened to sue the rapper for defamation.
As the controversy unfolds, Kenyans on Twitter have shared words of encouragement directed to King Kaka, with some offering to take him to the DCI as a show of solidarity.
