December 17, 2019, marked a day of controversy for King Kaka after he claimed to have received death threats from the CID following the release of his song Wajinga Nyinyi.
The song, which was released on December 17, 2019, painted Waiguru as among the corrupt leaders in the country, referring to the National Youth Scandal scandal when she was adversely mentioned and corruptly cleared by the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission EACC.
King Kaka's song sparked a reaction from Waiguru, who slapped him with a list of demands, including issuing an apology and pulling down the video on all his social media platforms. Ahmednasir Abdulahi, a renowned lawyer, offered to represent King Kaka against anyone who sues him for the song's lyrics.
However, the DCI has denied summoning King Kaka, terming the report as a popularity stunt by the rapper. In a tweet, the DCI stated, 'Anybody wishing for publicity should be warned to desist from using the @DCI_Kenya as a platform in seeking media attention.'
King Kaka has since released a statement claiming that the CID had called him, threatening him and his team. He provided the phone number used by the CID as +254 746 541 000 and asked the DCI to investigate the matter.
