On December 16, 2019, a devastating accident occurred on the Kericho-Litein road, claiming the lives of three people and leaving 11 others injured.

A Nissan matatu collided head-on with a trailer outside Exotic Hotel, resulting in the tragic loss of life.

Kericho County police commander Silas Gichunge attributed the accident to the driver's carelessness, stating that it could have been avoided had the driver exercised patience.

According to the police boss, the driver of the Nissan matatu attempted to overtake three other vehicles, leading to the fatal collision with the trailer heading towards Litein.

The bodies of the three deceased have been moved to the mortuary, and the police have warned drivers to be extra vigilant to avoid further accidents.

Three passengers are currently in critical condition at Kericho Sub County Hospital.
