On a special one-off show, A Berry Royal Christmas, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appeared alongside Mary Berry, a veteran of The Great British Bake Off. The Duchess revealed that Prince William's culinary skills played a significant role in their romance.

According to Kate, Prince William first prepared a spaghetti bolognese to try and win her heart during their university days at St. Andrews, Scotland, in 2001. She shared that he used to cook a variety of meals, including sauces, to impress her.

When asked if she still enjoys cooking, Kate replied, "William has to put up with my cooking most of the time now." Prince William responded with a laugh, "It's the reason I'm so skinny!"

During the show, Prince William was also asked if he would be cooking with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, over Christmas. He replied, "We are talking about doing mince pies this year. I love mince pies. If the children want to cook mince pies then I'm happy to do that."

Additionally, Kate shared that they grow their own vegetables, including carrots, beans, and beetroot, which is a favorite of their youngest son, Prince Louis.

As for Kate's love of baking, she shared, "I love making the cake. It's become a bit of a tradition that I stay up until midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it."
