Kenya: Fear As Gang Terrorises Men in a Village in Murang'a

Published on December 17, 2019

Men in Gakoigo village, Murang'a County are living in fear after a gang started terrorising and sodomising them, especially those aged 40 and above.

The gang's brutal attacks have left residents shaken, with some men now going home early to avoid being preyed on.

One of the victims, Julius Njoroge Mburu, 40, was sodomised and brutally killed by the gang last week.

His brother, Moses Kamande, found his naked body in a bush near their home, with a wire used to strangle him and his hands tied.

"He must have died a painful death, it was too horrific," Mr Kamande said, adding that his brother was probably killed because he recognised the sodomisers.

The gang's attacks have been linked to drug abuse, with local leaders attributing the rise in incidents to the increasing use of drugs in the area.

Despite the police's assurance that they are investigating the incidents, residents are calling for speedier action to bring the perpetrators to book.

"Up to when will the incidents continue without people being arrested? The perpetrators should learn a lesson through my son with the police doing all what they can to bring them to book and charge them in court," said Teresiah Njeri, Mburu's mother.
