Justice Otieno Odek, a respected Court of Appeal judge, was found dead in his apartment at Groovehut Apartments in Kisumu on Monday.

According to police, the 53-year-old judge was discovered face-up naked in his bed, with a blanket drawn up below his chest. Three sex-enhancing tablets, in a packet of six, had been taken, but it was unclear by whom or when.

Police sources revealed that the judge had blood oozing from his private parts and left ear, and his right hand was bruised. The apartment was locked from inside, and the judge's three phones were found inside, with the TV still on.

Justice Odek had arrived in Kisumu on Thursday as part of the Court of Appeal judges scheduled to hear cases in Western Kenya. His driver had dropped him off at the apartment, and he had stayed alone.

On Saturday, a househelp visited the apartment for a routine clean-up but found no one home. It is suspected that the judge may have died on Friday.

A friend of Justice Odek revealed that he never picked calls on Friday, leading to concerns about his well-being.

Investigations into the judge's death are ongoing, with a pathologist visiting the scene and the body being taken to Kisumu's Aga Khan Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem.
