Carlo Ancelotti, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss, is on the cusp of becoming the new manager of Everton Football Club.

According to reports, Ancelotti has agreed a deal in principle with the Everton board, paving the way for him to take charge of the team.

Despite being sacked by Napoli just last week, Ancelotti's impressive managerial credentials have made him the top target for the Everton job.

Everton's interim manager, Duncan Ferguson, has been doing an excellent job, leading the team to an impressive draw against Manchester United on Sunday.

However, the Everton board, led by owner Farhad Moshiri and director of football Marcel Brands, is keen to appoint a permanent manager, and Ancelotti's appointment could be confirmed as early as this weekend.

Former Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta is also in the running for the job, but Ancelotti's experience and success in the Champions League make him the more likely candidate.

Speaking after the draw against Manchester United, Ferguson emphasized the need for a top-class manager to take charge of the team, saying, "We need the best manager in the world to manage Everton Football Club. I’ve not got the experience in management. I’m all for us bringing in a top, top manager and if I can be part of that, brilliant."
