On Sunday, 15th December 2019, Junior Team Kenya Juniors displayed the country's overall winning trophy at the Serena Golf Resort and Spa's clubhouse in Kampala, Uganda.
The team, under the Junior Golf Foundation (JGF), showcased their top skills to bag the overall title in the 2019 US Kids Junior Golf Championships at the par 72 Kibo's Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa Course in Kampala, Uganda.
The three-day tournament, presented by Serena Hotels, featured 60 junior golfers from Uganda, Sweden, China, South Africa, Scotland, and Kenya, with 23 players from Kenya, including six from Mombasa's Nyali Golf and Country Club.
Nyali's Nathan Ng'weno led the pack, sweeping the top five slots in the boys' 13-years and above category. He topped the lead with a round score of 148 gross, two strokes ahead of second-placed Wasin Ali.
Andrew Wahome secured third place with a total of 228 gross, while Nyali's Alyssa Jamal won in the girls' category with a total of 250 gross.
Kenya also dominated the boys' 10-12 years category, sweeping all the top seven spots. Junaid Manji took the lead with 228 gross, while Audrey Gachora won in the girls' category with 302 gross.
However, Kenya lost in the boys' 8-9 years category, where Ugandan Banza Matsiko won with 119 gross, relegating Kenya's Aidan Gachora to second place with 135 gross.
Kenyan Nkini Pasha won in the girls' corresponding category with 148 gross, while Shaan Kitunzi secured victory in the seven-years category with 145 gross.
Emmanuel Kasio, the tournament director at Serena, stated that the US Kids golf is aimed at providing juniors with the chance to enjoy the game.
