Published on December 16, 2019, the festive season is upon us, and with it, a mix of excitement and disappointment. While some revel in the joy and celebration, others lament the lack of spirituality and emphasis on the true meaning of Christmas.

Paul Maina, a concerned citizen, wishes that true Christians would reflect on the teachings of Jesus Christ and shun negative behavior during this holiday season. He hopes that people will see the need to focus on salvation and the values that Christmas represents.

Meanwhile, in other news, Gerishon Mwangi has spoken out against the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) for allegedly discriminating against elderly members suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure. He claims that NHIF-approved facilities are sending them elsewhere to get medication at a higher price, which he finds inhuman and discriminatory.

Priscilla Jean-Louis, an Under-19 girls coach, has also raised concerns about the Sports of Year Awards (Soya), where only eight out of 20 nominees are girls' teams, and not a single female coach is on the list. She questions how the list of nominees is drawn up and laments the lack of representation of female coaches in the national teams.

On a more positive note, Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has been praised for her natural beauty and poise at the 56th Jamhuri Day celebrations in Nairobi. Taabu Tele, a commentator, notes that while she has a fashionista soulmate in First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, Mottley's natural beauty is truly unique and commands executive authority.
