Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has recorded a statement with the police alleging threats to his life by senior government officials. The incidents allegedly occurred on November 25, 2019, and December 11, 2019, at State House.
According to Mutua, the first incident involved a conversation with Duale and Murkomen, where Duale allegedly said, "Wewe, what is wrong with you?" and Murkomen said, "Wewe wacha zako, we have to teach you a lesson." Mutua claimed he was threatened by Ruto on the evening of December 11, 2019, during a banquet at State House, where Ruto allegedly said, "Wewe jamaa umekuwa ukinichapa sana (you fellow, you have been attacking me very much)."
Mutua believes that Ruto is capable of carrying out the threat to his life and general welfare. He has been disturbed by these threats and has requested beefing up of his personal security.
However, Murkomen dismissed Mutua's claims, saying, "Having failed spectacularly as a leader he turned himself into a Joseph Goebbels of his county government." Duale also accused Mutua of seeking cheap publicity through unfounded claims.
