Four people lost their lives in Marigat, Baringo County after consuming a meal of maize mixed with beans, popularly known as 'Githeri', which is suspected to have been laced with poison.
On December 13, a total of 19 people were admitted to Kabarnet Hospital and Mediheal Hospital after eating the poisonous meal.
Three suspects, Paul Kinyua Naituri, Evans Oyugi Ongechi, and Nelson Letite, who were supervisors at the farm where the casual workers ate the meal, have been detained for 14 days to allow police conclude investigations.
The suspects appeared before Resident Magistrate Vienna Amboko and were accused of murder.
The court directed that the suspects be detained at Marigat Police Station until December 30, 2019, when the case will be mentioned.
Meanwhile, samples of the food have been forwarded to the government chemist for further tests.
