On 16 December 2019, the UEFA Champions League round of 16 draw was announced, marking a historic milestone in the competition.
The draw featured a mix of top European teams, including Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Atalanta, Valencia, Atlético Madrid, Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Lyon, Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur, Leipzig, Napoli, and Barcelona.
The first legs of the round of 16 were scheduled for 18, 19, 25, and 26 February 2020, with the second legs taking place on 10, 11, 17, and 18 March 2020.
According to UEFA, this was the first time in the competition's history that only teams from top European leagues qualified for the knock-out phase.
