THE DISH: Of great food and selective service ¶

Wondering where to get the inside scoop on what's happening in and around Nairobi's foodie scene? Look no further than Talisman Restaurant, a popular spot that has been making headlines lately due to allegations of racism and poor service.
Two incidents have sparked controversy in recent weeks, with owners accused of not doing enough to change the culture of the establishment. But what's the real story behind these allegations?
As a regular visitor to Talisman, I decided to do some undercover investigating and see if the restaurant was living up to its reputation. I made a reservation and arrived on time, eager to see if the service would be up to par.
Upon arrival, I was shown to my table swiftly and comfortably next to the fireplace. However, the hostess asked us to move to a different table, citing an older couple who wanted to sit next to the fire. We moved, but unfortunately, the fireplace didn't quite live up to our expectations.
The service was a bit jittery, but not disappointing. We ordered starters, including the famous feta cheese samosas, which are a must-have when visiting Talisman. The sushi dish I ordered was also delicious, and our waiter, Washington, was great.
Despite the allegations of racism, our experience at Talisman was positive. The restaurant seems to be taking steps to address these issues, and with a new HR manager on board, we can only hope that the service will return to its former glory.
