On Sunday, police in Busia County set up a roadblock near River Sio along the Busia-Kisumu highway and seized 1,500 brooms of bhang being transported from Uganda to Kenya.
According to County Police Commander John Nyoike, the driver and two other occupants of the Toyota Axio vehicle were arrested and are in police custody.
Mr. Nyoike warned the public against engaging in illegal business, stating, "Business like this one is not good, let them do legit business that will not have any problem with law enforcement agencies."
The suspects will be interrogated to determine where the bhang was destined for, said Mr. Nyoike.
