On Sunday, December 15, 2019, Deputy President William Ruto attended a service at Chepngobob Methodist Church in Kericho County, where he offered some unexpected advice to the Bishop.

During the service, the Bishop struggled to introduce his wife to the congregation, referring to her as 'mama'. Ruto, however, had a different approach, suggesting that the Bishop use more romantic names to avoid any potential problems at home.

“Umejaribu kuintroduce your dear wife lakini naona kidogo bado ukale iko mingi… kwa sababu umesema huyu ni mama… sasa hatujui ni mama mzazi,” Ruto said, leaving the congregation in stitches.

He continued, “Bishop, ungesema this is my dear wife, hata ukisema sweetheart hakuna shida.” The congregation erupted in cheers and laughter, clearly entertained by Ruto's advice.

According to Ruto, introducing one's wife using sweet names can help men avoid problems at home. He suggested that the Bishop use names like 'sweetheart' to make things easier for everyone.

“Kwanza hiyo ulikuwa unasema ati akifika nyumba lazima uminteger ndio asikulete taabu nyumbani… kama ungesema this is my sweetheart mambo ingekuwa mzuri hata zaidi,” Ruto went on, leaving the congregation in even more laughter.
