Kenyan Wins International Translation Award

December 16, 2019 - Nuhu Bakari, a celebrated Swahili writer and translator, has made Kenya proud by winning an international translation award.

According to sources, Bakari received the award after beating over a hundred other participants in a translation competition organized by Proz.com, a global translation company based in New York, USA.

The competition, which was held last week, attracted translators from all over the world who participated in translating over a hundred languages, including Swahili.

Interestingly, Bakari was the only Kenyan participant in the competition, but he managed to outshine his competitors, including renowned scholars and writers of Swahili.

It is worth noting that Bakari's win is a testament to Kenya's growing reputation as a hub for Swahili language and culture.

His achievement comes on the heels of other notable Kenyan wins, including Peter Tabichi's award as the Best Teacher in the World and Eliud Kipchoge's record-breaking marathon run.

As the Swahili language continues to gain recognition globally, Bakari's win is a significant milestone that highlights Kenya's contribution to the language's growth and development.

"HONGERA SANA NUHU BAKARI" for promoting and defending the Swahili language.

Swahili is the backbone of African languages, and it is essential that we continue to promote and preserve it.
