Court of Appeal Judge Otieno Odek Dies at 56

Prof. Otieno Odek, a respected Court of Appeal judge, passed away on Monday morning at his home in Kisumu. He was 56 years old.

According to his family, the judge collapsed and died in the house.

Prof. Odek was sworn in as a Court of Appeal judge in 2012, after a distinguished career in academia and public service.

He previously served as a senior lecturer and Dean in the Faculty of Law at the University of Nairobi, and as the Managing Director of the Kenya Industrial Property Institute from December 2004 to 2012.

Prof. Odek had also applied for the position of Supreme Court judge in 2011, although he was unsuccessful.
