On November 25, 2019, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua attended a function at State House, Nairobi, where President Uhuru Kenyatta received the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.

According to Mutua, while waiting for the function to start, he was approached by National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale and Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, who allegedly told him that he had a habit of attacking them.

‘We will teach you a lesson because you have been attacking Deputy President William Ruto,’ Duale allegedly said.

Mutua further claimed that Duale told him that he could deal with the Kamba community in his Garissa Township constituency as a way to punish him.

On December 11, 2019, Mutua attended a banquet at State House in honor of the Barbados Prime Minister Mia Motley.

During the event, he allegedly came face to face with Deputy President William Ruto, who allegedly grabbed and held on to his hand and told him, ‘You fellow, you have been attacking me very much…I must now crush you…I will crush you.’

Mutua has now accused Ruto, Duale, and Murkomen of threatening his life and has asked the police to investigate the matter.

He has also requested additional security, citing his interest in the 2022 presidential race as a possible reason for the alleged threats.
