On December 15, 2019, Tyson Fury announced that he had parted ways with his coach Ben Davison, just two months before his highly anticipated rematch with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, scheduled for February 22, 2020.
The split comes after Davison had been Fury's coach for the last two years, helping him overcome personal struggles and achieve a remarkable comeback in the boxing world.
However, Davison's role in Fury's training camp was criticized after the British boxer's lackluster display against Otto Wallin in September 2019, where Fury suffered a significant cut above his right eye in the third round.
Despite this, Fury has moved quickly to hire Javan Hill as his new coach, who is the nephew of the late trainer Emmanuel Steward, a renowned figure in the boxing world.
Ben Davison took to Twitter to confirm the split, stating that he and Fury had made decisions for their careers, which led to the end of their working relationship. He also expressed his friendship with Fury and wished him well in his upcoming fight against Wilder.
"Obviously it's not gonna stop until there's an answer, Tyson and myself had to both make decisions for our careers, which resulted in our working relationship coming to an end," Davison wrote.
"However, we remain friends and he will smash the dosser!!"
