On December 16, 2019, the residents of Zamzam area in Likoni, Mombasa, were left in shock after a 37-year-old man hanged himself outside his rental apartment.
The deceased, Kevin Majiwa, had been struggling with his health for a while and had been trying to reach out to his family for help, but to no avail.
According to the police, Majiwa left a six-page suicide note, in which he accused his family of neglecting him and not showing him any love.
Locals who knew Majiwa expressed regret for not helping him sooner, with one of his neighbors, Justus Omondi, saying that Majiwa had complained the previous night about not having enough money for medication and that his family had ignored him.
The police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding Majiwa's death, but the autopsy report is yet to be released.
