Published on December 16, 2019, Arsenal's interim manager Freddie Ljungberg has faced criticism for his team's performance in a 3-0 loss to Manchester City.
Mesut Ozil, 31, was booed by his own fans as he walked off the pitch to be replaced by 19-year-old Emile Smith Rowe after 59 minutes of the game.
Ozil threw down his gloves and kicked them away when he was taken off, sparking a heated reaction from the German midfielder.
Ljungberg, who was appointed as interim manager following Unai Emery's departure in November, has promised to address Ozil's behavior.
"How he reacts is up to him and we will deal with it later," Ljungberg said.
Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton, who was in the commentary box at Emirates Stadium for BBC Radio 5 Live, criticized Ljungberg's performance and called for the club to appoint a new manager with credibility.
"There have to be questions asked about Ljungberg now – they are worse than under Emery and they are going backwards," Sutton said.
