On December 15, 2019, Manchester City suffered a tragic loss when one of their long-time fans died on his way to watch the team play against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
The club confirmed the news on Twitter just an hour after their 3-0 victory over Arsenal, expressing their sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased fan.
Manchester City's statement read: "Manchester City wishes to express its sincere condolences to the family and friends of a long-time City supporter who passed away today on his way to attending the game at Arsenal. The thoughts of all at the Club are with the family and loved ones at this very sad time."
Players and fans from both Manchester City and Arsenal, as well as football fans around the world, sent their condolences to the family of the deceased fan.
Manchester City's victory was led by an inspired Kevin De Bruyne, who scored a stunning brace and assisted Raheem Sterling in their 3-0 win over Arsenal.
