Matchweek 17 Recap ¶
Matchweek 17 of the Premier League saw Liverpool extend their lead at the top of the table, while Man United missed a chance to go fifth.
On Saturday, December 14, Liverpool secured a 2-0 win over struggling Watford, leaving them with 49 points and a 10-point lead atop the standings.
Leicester, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Norwich, remain second with 45 points, just four points behind Liverpool.
Man City's 3-0 win over Arsenal at Emirates Stadium was enough to see them close the gap between them and Leicester to just four points.
Chelsea's fourth defeat in five Premier League matches at Stamford Bridge in the hands of a resilient Bournemouth side has seen them lose their grip on the top four.
Man United's disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Everton saw them miss out on a glorious chance to go fifth and remain sixth with 25 points.
Arsenal's 3-0 defeat to City has halted their hopes of breaking into the top four anytime soon.
The drop zone remains unchanged, with Southampton, Norwich, and Watford occupying the bottom three places.
