Kenya's new KSh350 million cruise ship terminal is set to be unveiled in early 2020, marking a significant milestone in the country's efforts to boost its tourism industry.

Located at the Port of Mombasa, the new terminal is 95% complete and features modern facilities, including duty-free shops, restaurants, conference facilities, and offices for key stakeholders in the industry.

The terminal's design prioritizes sustainability, with high-roofed structures powered by solar energy and a bio digester that recycles water for re-use.

The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) partnered with Trade Mark East Africa (TMEA) in the terminal's construction, with KPA contributing KSh250 million and TMEA contributing KSh100 million.

Upon completion, the terminal is expected to create close to 300 direct jobs, benefiting local industries such as the transport sector, hotels, food providers, and curio sellers.

The Port of Mombasa has already received MS Albatros, the first cruise vessel for the season, carrying 446 passengers and 346 crew members.
