Kirinyaga Man Stabs Brother to Death Over Insult

Published on December 16, 2019

A 39-year-old man in Kirinyaga County has been accused of stabbing his brother to death after the victim allegedly insulted him.

According to the siblings' father, 80-year-old Martin Njine, his elder son Mathew Njuki, aged 42, came home drunk at around 2am and confronted his brother Anthony Muriithi, also 39.

Mathew Njuki is reported to have insulted his brother, accusing him of being unable to sire children.

Angered by his brother's remarks, Anthony Muriithi grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him to death.

'I was shocked to see my cousin Mathew Njuki lying in a pool of blood in the compound,' their cousin John Mwaniki said.

Confirming the incident, Gichugu OCPD Anthony Mbogo said a search was underway for the suspect who fled after the incident.

The body of the deceased was moved to Kibugi Funeral Home.
