December 13, 2019, marked a disturbing incident at J's Fresh Bar and Kitchen in Westlands, Nairobi. Fay Hersi, daughter of veteran hotelier Mohammed Hersi, took to social media to share her harrowing experience of being allegedly assaulted by the establishment's staff.
According to Hersi, she was slapped by a female bartender after she asked for her change back. The situation escalated when the bartender called in the bouncers, who attempted to forcibly drag her out of the premises.
Hersi claimed that she was choked by one of the security personnel, and her friends intervened to prevent further violence. She alleged that the staff refused to review CCTV footage or speak to the manager, instead bringing in a man named Vincent who allegedly slapped her after she demanded to speak to the real manager.
The incident was reported at Westlands Police Station, and J's Fresh Bar and Kitchen released a statement condemning violence and abusive behavior. However, the establishment later released another statement blaming Hersi and her friends for stirring the situation.
This is not the first time J's Fresh Bar and Kitchen has been embroiled in controversy. Last year, a customer claimed to have been racially abused at the establishment, which initially validated the complaint but later retracted the statement.
