Revolutionizing Postal Services in Kenya ¶
With the advent of digital communication, traditional postal services have faced significant challenges. However, the Postal Corporation of Kenya has innovated a solution to stay relevant in the digital age - MPost Kenya.
Launched in 2019, MPost Kenya has been a game-changer for postal services in Kenya. The service allows every Kenyan with a mobile phone to have a personal postal address with ease, converting their phone number to a P.O. BOX.
How MPost Works ¶
After registering for the service, users can select the post office that will offer the highest convenience among the available 622 to receive their letter, parcel, or manuscripts. Once the postal corporation receives the item, users will be notified that they have an item to pick.
Users can then choose to visit the post office and collect their items by themselves or request for it to be delivered to their office, home, or any other location. The delivery cost will depend on the location.
Registration Process ¶
Registering for MPost Kenya is a straightforward process. Users can either dial 23419# or 89090# and follow the prompts. They will need to enter their passport or national identity card number, the nearest postal code to their residence, and the mobile number of the agent (if applicable).
Users will then be prompted to complete the registration by paying Ksh. 300 (using the service pin of their choice). If the payment fails, they can use the MPost paybill number 506500 with their mobile phone number and postal code as the account number.
Pick n Drop Service ¶
MPost Kenya also offers a Pick n Drop service, which allows users to dispatch their letters or parcels with the convenience of using their phone. The service includes delivering leaflets or parcels, banking or picking up a cheque, facilitating private and corporate errands, and delivering gifts.
Users can request the Pick n Drop service via the Pick N Drop application, which is available on the Google Play Store. They will need to enter the required details, a password of their choice, and a referral code, then tap on the Create Account option.
