Kenyan Youth Struggles: A National Conversation ¶
King Kaka's latest hit track, Wajinga Nyinyi, has taken the nation by storm, sparking a much-needed conversation about the struggles of Kenyan youth.
Released in 2019, the song highlights the issues of unemployment, bad governance, and the problems affecting the nation as a whole.
One of the most poignant reactions to the song came from a fan who shared a personal story about his cousin who committed suicide due to joblessness. The cousin had a master's degree in Actuarial science, but was unable to find employment.
"My cousin committed suicide last year. He had a master's in Actuarial science. We got to do something man!" the fan wrote in a message to King Kaka.
The song has also sparked a wave of reactions from Kenyans on social media, with many expressing their frustration and disappointment with the current state of affairs in the country.
"Our engineers have filled papers with files and the SGR tender is being eaten by the system..." wrote Rotich Dan in a response to the song.
"The system has failed...?" added Thee Rêãlêr Khálidô, a Moi University comrade.
"True words have never been spoken in a song King Kaka..." wrote Charles Mbugua, praising the rapper for his bold lyrics.
"Being a Kenyan now is so hard, we applaud you for being a voice of reason..." added Vera Beaté D'afrique, encouraging Kenyans to wake up and take action.
"Mayouth wamejaza ma driving license kwa mifuko ilhali ukiingia kwa ofisi za county gvrt unapata wazae wa miaka 60+ ndo ma stero wa hizo trucks,," wrote Munah Skater, highlighting the struggles of young people in Kenya.
"Song of the year...politicians are not happy how you've opened people's eyes and minds..." added Julius M Muyeri, praising King Kaka for his impact.
