On December 16, 2019, MMUST RFC secured a crucial 26-12 win over Northern Suburbs, retaining their second-place position in the KRU Championship standings.
The victory marked a bounce-back for MMUST after their loss to Strathmore Leos in Kakamega the previous weekend.
MMUST captain Samuel Mbeche praised his teammates for their positive response to the loss, saying, 'We needed this win and I am glad the team did not give up after the disappointing loss against Leos at home. We were aggressive and clinical from the start and I think that helped.'
Strathmore Leos maintained their eight-point lead at the top of the standings after enjoying a 24-0 walkover against Kisii RFC, who failed to show up at Madaraka Grounds.
Mean Machine continued their impressive form with a 33-9 win over University of Eldoret Trojans, securing their third spot in the standings.
South Coast Pirates edged out United States International University-Africa 17-10 in Mombasa, while Kisii RFC's no-show handed Strathmore Leos a 24-0 walkover.
