On the eighth anniversary of her life-changing surgery, Kara Richard, a radio presenter at George FM in New Zealand, made a heartwarming gesture to celebrate her cancer-free journey.

Richard, who works at a dance radio station, shared her remarkable story with fellow presenter General Lee on Friday, December 13, 2019. Eight years ago, she underwent a seven-hour surgery to remove her stomach, which left her with collapsed lungs.

‘I remember being wheeled into the operating room, crying, wondering if I was ever going to see my family again if I was gonna survive, if I was ever going to see my daughter again who was only three months old,’ Richard recalled.

As she held up her preserved stomach from a sealed bag, Lee exclaimed, ‘Oh wow, holy jeez man, that is Kara Rickard’s stomach!’

Richard replied, ‘That, is my actual stomach,’ as she pointed at the yellow organ.

Reflecting on her journey, Richard expressed her gratitude for being alive and sent love to all cancer survivors, those battling the illness, and those who have lost loved ones.

‘I count my blessings every single day, and I am beyond grateful I am still here,’ she said.

Richard's remarkable story was shared via Newshub.
