On a fateful Saturday night in December 2019, a devastating collision between a 14-seater matatu and a motorcycle near Bugar trading centre on the Iten-Kapsowar road left two people dead.
The matatu, which was headed to Kapsowar from Eldoret town, collided with the motorcycle, killing the rider and his passenger instantly, just minutes past 9pm.
According to Elgeyo Marakwet Police Commander John Mwinzi, the angry mob that gathered at the scene overpowered the police officers and set the matatu ablaze.
Initial investigations suggested that both the driver of the matatu and the rider were speeding at the time of the accident.
