Deputy President William Ruto has urged Jubilee Party leaders to put aside factional fights and work together under President Uhuru Kenyatta's leadership.
Speaking in Kericho and Kisii Counties on Sunday, Dr Ruto said the party should not be divided by leaders who believe in tribal politics.
“Jubilee under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta would not allow the country to go back to the era of politics of hate, tribalism and division,” he said.
Dr Ruto also called on Kenyans to shun tribal politics and focus on issues that benefit the people.
“That is how we are going to speak about pro-people issues and avoid ethnicity and personality cults,” he said.
He was accompanied by several leaders, including Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony, Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, and several MPs.
They called for the speedy implementation of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report without dividing Kenyans.
“We need to finish the implementation of BBI by March so that we can ensure Big Four is successfully achieved,” said MP Shadrack Mose.
Dr Ruto also emphasized the importance of supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, which he said are the engines of economic growth.
