On December 15, 2019, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) summoned officials of the Tahmeed Coach Limited to discuss the company's safety records.

The move comes after a series of fatal road accidents involving transport companies covering long distances.

Just last week, NTSA suspended the licence of Modern Coast Bus Company following a road crash at Kiongwani near Salama town along the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway, which resulted in the deaths of seven people and injuries to 60 others.

NTSA Director-General George Njao stated that investigations had begun into the operations of the transporter's safety standard and operations.

According to Njao, the authority had been monitoring the operations of the Modern Coast Bus Express Limited following reports of several fatal accidents.

NTSA officials are expected to meet with Tahmeed Coach officials on Monday to deliberate on the way forward.
