On a disappointing note, Kenya Sevens team's campaign at the Cape Town Sevens came to an end on Sunday, as they lost to host South Africa 17-5 in the Main Cup quarter-finals.
Despite the loss, Kenya Sevens has secured a significant improvement in their performance, earning between 10 to 13 points and a top eight finish in the World Rugby Sevens World Series.
This achievement is a notable improvement from their previous performance at the Dubai Sevens, where they collected four points for a 13th place finish.
With their focus now shifted to the New Zealand and Australia legs of the World Rugby Sevens World Series in late January and early February, Kenya Sevens will look to build on their recent progress.
Before their exit from the tournament, Kenya Sevens had completed their preliminary round unbeaten, stunning Samoa and Australia 24-19 and 12-7 respectively, and forcing a 24-24 draw against newcomers Ireland in Pool “D”.
Coach Paul Feeney expressed his satisfaction with the team's improvement, stating, “We have made great strides and improvement in our attack and defensive structures. Our kick-offs have also been enhanced as I give all the players opportunity to prove themselves,”
