On Saturday evening, a tragic road accident claimed the lives of two people when a matatu they were traveling in veered off the road and landed in a ditch.
According to reports, the matatu driver was attempting to overtake a lorry when he lost control, causing the vehicle to skid off the road and kill two boda boda riders.
The incident occurred along the Kapsowar-Eldoret highway, which has seen a series of accidents in the month of December.
Following the accident, the angry residents torched the matatu, while the two bodies were taken to Iten Referral Hospital.
Meanwhile, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has summoned Tahmeed Coach Limited officials over public complaints and reports of near-fatal crashes.
NTSA Director General George Njao urged the public to report motorists endangering the lives of passengers or other road users to the nearest Police station or NTSA offices.
