On Sunday, 15 December 2019, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) announced that officials of Tahmeed Coach Limited would appear before the authority on Monday to discuss the company's safety record.
The move comes after public complaints and reports of near fatal crashes involving the bus company.
NTSA has also urged members of the public to report motorists endangering the lives of passengers or other road users to the nearest police station or NTSA offices.
Just days earlier, on Thursday, 12 December 2019, NTSA suspended the operating licence of Modern Coast Bus Express after two of its buses collided in Kiongwani near Salama Market on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway, killing seven people and injuring 62 others.
NTSA has been cracking down on bus companies with poor safety records, and the suspension of Modern Coast's licence is a testament to this effort.
