It was supposed to be a routine day for Mwalimu Andrew, but little did he know that his life was about to take a dramatic turn. He had left his home in Kakamega with his friend Pius and Pius's wife Rumona, but they never returned. The last time he saw them was at the 3.2km mark of the Kakamega Marathon.
After the marathon, Rumona's friend Fiolina said that they waited for Mwalimu Andrew for quite some time, but since he took too long to come, they drove away. Mwalimu Andrew and Pius had left their home in Mwisho wa Lami together with Rumona, but they went back without her.
It wasn't until two days later that Fiolina wondered where Rumona could be. 'Huyu Mlamwa kwani alienda wapi? Amekupigia simu?' she asked. Mwalimu Andrew told Fiolina that beautiful Rumona had not called him.
But things took a turn for the worse when Nimo, Pius's wife, called Mwalimu Andrew last Thursday. She wanted to speak to Pius, but Mwalimu Andrew told her that Pius was not at home. He even went as far as to say that Pius was running his own errands, looking for land to buy.
However, when Mwalimu Andrew tried to call Pius, he was unsuccessful. He also tried calling Rumona several times, but she would disconnect his calls. It wasn't until later that day that Mwalimu Andrew received a call from Nimo again, this time asking him to speak to Pius.
But before Mwalimu Andrew could speak to Pius, he received a call from Rumona herself. 'Mlamwa, nasikia hujamaliza marathon?' she asked when he picked the call. They laughed about it, and Rumona told Mwalimu Andrew that she had come to visit her sister in Kisumu.
But the situation took a dramatic turn when Mwalimu Andrew's brother Ford called him, asking if he had seen Rumona. Mwalimu Andrew told him that he had seen her that morning, but it turned out that he had not. Ford told Mwalimu Andrew to tell Rumona that he was on his way coming, and that he would arrive the next morning.
But when Mwalimu Andrew tried to call Rumona again, she ignored his calls. Even Fiolina's calls to Rumona went unanswered. Mwalimu Andrew is now left praying that no one will be injured, and that Rumona will come back home safely.
