Published on December 15, 2019, a song by musician King Kaka has sparked a heated debate in Kenya, with Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru's husband, Waiganjo Kamotho, vowing to sue the artist for defamation.

The song, Wajinga Nyinyi, makes a scathing attack on Waiguru and others accused of looting the National Youth Service (NYS) coffers. Insiders within the governor's camp claim the song has irreparably damaged Waiguru's reputation and may hinder her efforts to lobby for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and future political aspirations.

Waiganjo Kamotho, Waiguru's husband, has announced plans to personally pursue the matter in court, stating, 'We must not let music be misused to settle political scores.'

King Kaka's song revisits the massive theft and plunder of national resources in the Devolution Ministry, which was then under Waiguru's leadership. The musician alleges that biro pens, priced at twenty shillings, were bought at 8,000 shillings each, highlighting the scale of the NYS looting.

However, Waiguru remains adamant in her insistence of innocence, blaming unknown powerful individuals for using her name to cover up their own wrongdoing.

The decision to sue King Kaka may be an indication that Waiguru is determined to shed off the NYS loot tag that continues to haunt her.
