Kenyan rapper King Kaka's new song Wajinga Nyinyi has sparked controversy after blogger Abraham Mutai accused him of using the song for commercial purposes.
Released on Saturday, the song has gained over 500,000 views on YouTube in less than 24 hours, with Mutai questioning why King Kaka isn't telling his followers that the song's success is due to YouTube's payment for views.
“Kila mtu anatafuta doo. Hata King kaka is looking for money using his rendition. Youtube is paying top dollar for your views,” Mutai said on his Twitter handle.
King Kaka had claimed that his life is in danger due to the song's reception, but Mutai has questioned why he isn't clarifying the truth about the assassination stories that have been circulating online.
“Milk it to the last drop. Your rendition will hit top on youtube and youtube will pay for the views. You are supposed to tell your fans this is 'NOT TRUE but propaganda'. Instead you're now pushing it as if it actually happened. Sisi ni wajinga kweli. Mjinga anatumia ujinga yetu
Abraham Mutai, a self-proclaimed supporter of ODM leader Raila Odinga, has been critical of King Kaka's actions, suggesting that he is only looking out for his own interests.
